Use Vinegar In Your Bath!

Well, not in your bath. Not unless you want to smell like a big ol’ deviled egg, anyway.

But in the bathroom, there are a lot of uses for plain white vinegar! As a cleaning option, it’s a degreaser, a streak remover, it breaks down hard water deposits, and it non-toxic. (Well, it is literally food, you know.)

Here, via Starts at 60, are a few ways you can use the power of vinegar for a cleaner, fresher bathroom that’s completely family and pet friendly!

Bathroom Surfaces

Vinegar makes for a great surface cleaner…most of the time. Fill a spray bottle with one part water, one part vinegar and use on all surfaces including benches, basins, tiles and shower screens.

Vinegar is not, however, a disinfectant. You can add a few drops of tea tree oil to your vinegar solution to kill surface germs.

Streak-Free Mirrors

Vinegar is a great mirror cleaning tool. Simply mix up one part water, one part vinegar and spray on the desired surface.

They recommend wiping with a microfiber cloth, but if you want to go true old school (and as environmentally friendly as possible) use newspaper! Trust us… you won’t believe the shine!

Un-block a Shower Head

Do you find sometimes that the flow of the water is slow? This is usually caused by a build-up of deposits.

You can solve this problem by removing your shower head and letting it soak in vinegar… or you can attach a plastic bag filled with vinegar to the shower head while it hangs in place. The vinegar will dissolve hard water deposits.

Air Freshener

Vinegar is surprisingly one of the best natural air fresheners around. In a spray bottle, mix one teaspoon of bicarb soda, one tablespoon of vinegar and one cup of water.

Unlike the perfumey air fresheners at the store, this one will freshen a room without leaving your lungs full of chemicals. And if you have a diffuser, fill it with straight vinegar!
